A container ship and two US destroyers were attacked by the Houthis
On August 7, Yemeni Houthi armed spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a speech that in the Gulf of Aden, the Houthi armed forces used multiple ballistic missiles and drones to attack the container ship "Contship Ono" and two US destroyers "Colon" and "Laboon" in the Red Sea.
Yahya Sarea said the ship "Contship Ono" was targeted because the company that owns the ship violated a decision to ban access to occupied Palestinian ports.
Athens-based Contship Management said the ship was not attacked and all crew members were safe.
The UK Security Service and the UK Maritime Trading Operations (UKMTO) also did not confirm any attack on the ship.
The container ship "Contship Ono" was built in 2007 with a capacity of 1080TEU and is flying the Liberian flag. The container ship was scheduled to arrive in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on August 11, but is currently out of range, according to the data.
The spokesman of the Houthi armed forces also claimed that the Houthis had used drones to attack the USS Colon and used ballistic missiles to attack the USS Rabun. But US officials said there was no evidence to support the claim that the Houthis attacked the two US destroyers.
