DSV acquires DB Schenker and plans to invest $1.1 billion over five years
Danish freight forwarding giant DSV9 announced on the 13th that it has successfully acquired DB Schenker, a logistics subsidiary of German state-owned rail operator Deutsche Bahn Group, for 14.3 billion euros (about 15.86 billion US dollars).
Based on 2023 data, the two companies are estimated to have combined revenues of approximately 39.3 billion euros ($43.6 billion) and employ approximately 147,000 people in more than 90 countries and territories.
DSV said the acquisition of DB Schenker would strengthen its competitive position and provide opportunities to enter new markets. It stressed that through the acquisition of DB Schenker, Germany will become a key market for the company, and several core functions will remain in Germany, including DB Schenker's headquarters in Essen, Germany.
DSV wants to grow its business in Germany and plans to invest 1 billion euros ($1.11 billion) in the country over the next 3-5 years.

According to the 2024 Top 50 Global Sea and air freight forwarders list published by Transport Topics, DSV is the fourth largest sea freight forwarder and the fourth largest air freight forwarder in the world by business volume, DB Schenker is the fifth largest sea freight forwarder and the third largest air freight forwarder in the world. With the acquisition of DB Schenker, DSV will become the world's largest freight forwarding company.
