Cma CGM Group CNC establishes new company in Philippines
CMA CGM Philippines Shipping (CNC), a subsidiary of CMA CGM, has announced the establishment of a new company in the Philippines, CMA CGM Philippines Shipping, and has launched route services.

The company also became the first foreign shipping company to register in the Philippines and operate domestic routes in the Philippines after the Philippine government allowed foreign shipping companies to enter the country's domestic shipping market.

The new route, operated by a Filipino-flagged 1037TEU "CNC PILIPINAS" vessel, will further improve connectivity between major Philippine ports and connect to CMA CGM's global network, thereby reducing transit times, reducing logistics costs and facilitating intra-regional trade flows.

CNC also said that vessels operating domestic routes in the Philippines will use very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to reduce air pollution, in line with CMA CGM's commitment to environmental protection in the industry. At the same time, in domestic and international transportation in the Philippines, the use of the same container, no need to change the container operation, can simplify the cargo handling process, effectively improve efficiency, and further reduce the overall logistics cost.

Bo Wegener, chief executive officer of CMA CGM Asia Pacific, said: "Asia has contributed significantly to our global growth, and the introduction of CNC services in the domestic market of the Philippines is an important milestone in the development of our Asian business and we will continue to strengthen our presence in the Asian market."

Elmer Sarmiento, Undersecretary of Maritime at the Philippine Department of Transportation, said: "We are very pleased that CNC has launched its first Philippine domestic route operation, which is a strong demonstration of the Philippines' commitment to fostering a dynamic market and attracting international investment. This will not only enhance our domestic shipping capacity, but also create valuable jobs for the crew."

Steven Zhu, CEO of NC, believes that the Philippines has a vibrant domestic and international trade environment and great potential for development in the shipping market and innovation sector. "We are pleased to be the first foreign company to establish a company in the Philippines and will strengthen cooperation with the Philippine government in the future to bring advanced knowledge, technology and infrastructure to the domestic shipping industry in the Philippines."
