The Houthis issued a statement after three more ships were attacked
On October 28, the Houthis announced that they had attacked three Liberian-flagged vessels, including the "Motaro", "SC Montreal" and "Maersk Kowloon", claiming that they were part of a naval blockade against Israel, and the Houthis stressed that they would continue to attack Israeli targets and related vessels. Until Israel lifts its operations in Gaza and Lebanon.

According to multiple reports, Yemen's Houthi forces announced on October 28 that they had launched attacks on three ships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea areas as part of their naval blockade against Israel. Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarrea confirmed the attack in a televised address, saying all the attacks had hit their targets accurately.

According to the Houthis, the three vessels involved, all flying Liberian flags, are the bulk carrier Motaro, the Maersk Kowloon and the container ship SC Montreal. The ships were allegedly trying to reach Israeli ports. However, a Maersk Line spokesman later refuted the Houthi claim that the Maersk Kowloon had been attacked.

In terms of attack methods, Sareya revealed that the Houthis used two drones to launch an "accurate attack" on a container ship in the southern Arabian Sea, followed by cruise missiles and ballistic missiles to carry out attacks on two container ships in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea.

The bulk carrier "Motaro", built in 2006, was last seen in the Red Sea off the west coast of Yemen while sailing from Egypt's Suez Canal to Shanghai. The container ship SC Montreal, built in 2004, was on its way from Port Victoria in the Seychelles to Salalah in Oman when it was attacked in the Arabian Sea. Maersk Kowloon, a container ship built in 2005, is located in the western Indian Ocean, also on the route from Salalah.

The container ship "MAERSK KOWLOON", built in 2005 with a capacity of 7471TEU, is now operated by Maersk and serves the TP11 route from Asia to the East of the United States. This route covers Singapore, an important international transit port. According to the shipping schedule data, "MAERSK KOWLOON" involves a number of shipping companies, including MSC, MAERSK, SEAGO, ZIM, MCC, SEALAND, GOLD STAR LIN and other shipping companies.

The container ship "SC MONTREAL", built in 2004, has a capacity of 2478TEU. The ship is operated by MAERSK (MAERSK, SEAGO, MCC) and is deployed on the Africa-Middle East IOI SERVICE route, according to Big shipping data.

Since November 2023, the Houthis have been attacking commercial vessels in the area around the Red Sea, a key entry point to the Suez Canal. This paralyzed much of the world's shipping, with many ships choosing to bypass Africa in order to avoid attacks.

In his speech, Sareya also re-emphasized support for Palestine and Lebanon, and said the Houthis would continue to carry out attacks on Israeli targets and associated ships until Israel lifts its blockade of the Gaza Strip and stops its military operations in Lebanon.

In addition, according to the British maritime security company Ambrey and Maritime Trade Operations, there were multiple explosions in the waters off Yemen earlier in the day, but the ships and crews involved were unharmed and continued to sail.
