CMA CGM Group's revenue in the first three quarters exceeded 40 billion US dollars, an increase of 12.0% year-on-year
On November 9, CMA CGM announced its results for the third quarter of 2024. In the third quarter of 2024, CMA CGM Group achieved a total operating income of 15.83 billion US dollars, an increase of 38.5%. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) reached $4.96 billion, an increase of 148.6%. EBITDA margin increased 13.9 percentage points to 31.4%. Group net profit reached $2.73 billion, an increase of $2.34 billion or 603.6% over the same period last year.


CMA CGM's revenue exceeded $40 billion in the first three quarters


In the first three quarters of 2024, CMA CGM Group achieved a total operating income of 40.08 billion US dollars, an increase of 12.0%. EBITDA reached $9.83 billion, an increase of 22.5%. EBITDA margin increased 2.1 percentage points to 24.1%. In the first three quarters, the Group's net profit reached 4.18 billion US dollars, an increase of 12.0%. Cma CGM stressed that the consolidation business continued to maintain steady momentum, benefiting from sustained demand, earlier "peak season" and accelerated global trade, while the Red Sea crisis resulted in longer voyages and reduced available capacity. These disruptions have created operational challenges, and CMA CGM has responded flexibly to meet customer demand and ease supply chain pressures.

As the official logistics partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, CMA CGM Group, through its subsidiary CEVA logistics, has played a vital role in seamlessly delivering goods and services for the world's largest sporting event, which takes place from July to September.

In the third quarter of 2024, CMA CGM completed 6.04 million TEU, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year. This growth was mainly driven by strong demand from global trade. Strong demand amplifies the peak season effect and also leads to an earlier peak season. The average freight rate per box was $1,796, an increase of 35.8%.

In the third quarter of 2024, the total operating revenue of the Marine business increased by 43.3% year-on-year to $10.85 billion; EBITDA was $4.36 billion, an increase of 173.7%. EBITDA margin increased 19.2 percentage points year over year to 40.2%.

According to the latest Alphaliner data, CMA CGM ranks third in the world among the top 100 liner companies in terms of capacity, operating 647 vessels, including 292 owned vessels and 355 chartered vessels, with a total capacity of 3.798 million TEU. In addition, CMA CGM holds 81 new shipbuilding orders totaling 1.182 million TEU.
