DP WORLD and NLC launch direct shipping service to Bangladesh
In a strategic move, DP WORLD and the New Coast Container Terminals Company (NLC) have shipped more than 1,000 containers between Pakistan and Bangladesh since the launch of the first direct route between the two countries in October, DP World announced on December 25. Trade and regional connectivity in South Asia will be greatly enhanced.

The latest shipment, which departed from Karachi on MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan and is scheduled to arrive in Chittagong, Bangladesh, on January 11, carries a variety of cargo including industrial raw materials, agricultural products and textile fabrics, demonstrating the role of the service in supporting regional trade.

The new Pakistan-Bangladesh direct flight brings significant benefits to importers and exporters, including more than 50% reduction in transit times, improved connectivity by eliminating transhipment, and more reliable and competitive logistics solutions. The service has successfully completed several voyages and has been warmly welcomed by the business community in both countries. This initiative marks the beginning of a new era of trade driven by the joint venture between DP World and New Coast Container Terminals and is an important part of a larger regional roadmap for growth, prosperity and progress across the region.

This is part of a wider service that connects six countries and runs alternately between the following countries: Port Klang (Malaysia), Jebel Ali (UAE), Karachi (Pakistan), Chittagong (Bangladesh), Palawan (Indonesia) and Mundra (India).

The first flight, which departed on October 30, carried 304 containers from Karachi to Chittagong. By eliminating transhipment, the direct route provides an extremely efficient 11-day transit time between Karachi and Chittagong, ensuring faster delivery times and reducing logistics costs.

The second service more than doubled the container load between Karachi and Chittagong, underlining the growing demand for this service.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World, said: "We are committed to enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating trade growth. This new route is a testament to our commitment to providing innovative logistics solutions to meet the changing needs of our customers." This new route also connects many of our regional and global routes, enabling businesses and traders to connect to all parts of our global network, enhancing their opportunities to grow their business and serve new customers."

Dp World and the new logistics centre remain committed to exploring further opportunities to expand and enhance logistics services in the region.
