Protesters blocked the entrance to the headquarters of Maersk, which is suspected of transporting ammunition
According to Danish shipping media Shippingwatch, on Monday morning, people protesting Maersk's shipment of military equipment to Israel gathered in front of the company's headquarters in Copenhagen to stage a demonstration and attempted to block the company's entrance.
Police have arrived at the scene. Photos showed hundreds of people at the gates of Maersk's headquarters. Copenhagen police said they were on the scene and that about 200 protesters had taken part in the demonstration. Of those, 10 to 15 climbed onto the roof.
Activists say Masky was caught transporting military equipment to Israel. In early February, Danish media Danwatch revealed that 14 container ships owned by Maersk shipped thousands of tons of military equipment to Israel on 43 occasions between October 2023 and September 2024.
In a written response, Maersk said: "The cargo transported on behalf of the US government did not contain weapons or ammunition. These shipments are related to U.S. policies implemented under the U.S.-Israel Security Cooperation Program. The goods have been inspected and are legitimate and in compliance with applicable law."
In June last year, police arrested and charged 14 people in connection with a pro-Palestinian demonstration at Maersk's headquarters in Copenhagen, according to a Copenhagen police spokesman.
