Evergreen Shipping once again large-scale purchase of more than 60,000 boxes
Evergreen Shipping recently announced the latest container purchase announcement, ordering 52,000 and 14,500 containers respectively from Orient International Containers (Hong Kong) Limited and Singamas, totalling 66,500 containers, with a total transaction value of about 187 million US dollars.
This is following the order of 60,500 containers in November 2024, Evergreen once again large-scale purchase of boxes. Evergreen had said at the time that the deal was part of its box purchase plan announced in August 2024. According to the container purchase plan, Eva will purchase no more than 100,000 containers due to operational needs.
In addition, in May and June 2024, Eva also ordered 27,500 and 50,000 containers respectively.
Since 2024, due to geopolitics, port strikes and other factors, the global supply chain is more fragile, and supply chain tensions occur from time to time. In order to cope with various uncertain events, shipping companies have a strong willingness to prepare containers.
Entering 2025, the changeable tariff policy of the new US administration, as well as the increasingly complex geopolitics, make the market uncertainties further increase, and cast a shadow on the prospects of the global supply chain. Shipping companies represented by Evergreen continue to build boxes, but also hope that through this move, to avoid the risk of shortage of boxes caused by supply chain tension.
