ONE announced the suspension of trans-Pacific route PN4, which was scheduled to operate in May

Recently, ONE announced that it has suspended the trans-Pacific route PN4 (Pacific North4) planned to operate by the Premier Alliance in May until further notice.

It is reported that the original port order of PN4 route is: Ningbo - Shanghai - Vancouver - Tacoma - Ningbo.

Some industry analysts believe that this is a measure taken by the shipping company in response to the current uncertain trade environment. The person also expects that other shipping companies and alliances are expected to take similar measures.

Mediterranean Shipping (MSC), the world's number one container shipping company by capacity, also announced a new trans-Pacific route adjustment plan, cancelling some voyages, including:

• Week 14: CHINOOK Route UK514A;
• Week 17: PEARL Route GQ517N, ORIENT Route GO517N, AMERICA Route GU517W, LONE STAR Route GN517E
• Week 18: EMPIRE Route GE518E.

The latest statistics from Delury, an industry consultancy, show that 57 of the world's major east-west routes - including trans-Pacific, trans-Atlantic and Asia-Nordic and Mediterranean routes - have been cancelled between April 7 and May 11, representing 8 per cent of the 718 planned flights. About 53 percent of the canceled flights were on trans-Pacific eastbound routes, 23 percent on Asia-Nordic and Mediterranean routes, and 24 percent on trans-Atlantic westbound routes.

Many people in the industry believe that the longer the tariff uncertainty lasts, the greater the impact on the short-term cargo volume of the US line. Pessimists even predict that the first quarter of the United States may be the highest volume of the year, after which the United States imports may continue to decline.
