Qingdao Port joint CMA CGM new Central American ro-ro route
Recently, with the siren long, full of more than 2,500 domestic new energy cars, the "Meditylan high-speed" ro-Ro ship, set sail in Shandong port Qingdao Port Dagang Company, bound for Central American countries.

According to reports, this is the first voyage of the new ro-ro route opened by Shandong Port Qingdao Port and CMA CGM, marking that the former will add a new channel in the global layout of new energy vehicles, and inject strong momentum into the Central American market for domestic new energy vehicles.

In recent years, China's new energy automobile industry has developed vigorously, and the export volume has continued to rise. As an important automobile import and export hub in northern China, Shandong Port Qingdao Port grasps market opportunities, relies on the dual-node advantages of "international route + sea-rail combined transport", deeply embedded the ro-RO business into the RCEP regional industrial chain, and continuously optimizes the ro-ro operation service capacity.

According to reports, following the February this year, Shandong port Qingdao Port joined hands with shipping companies to open the Mexico ro-ro route, the cooperation with CMA CGM to open up new routes in Central America, and further weave the international ro-ro transportation network.

In the first quarter of this year, the export volume of new energy vehicles of Shandong Port Qingdao Port Dagang Company increased by more than 160% year-on-year, and ran out of "acceleration" in the field of new energy vehicle exports in China. In response to the export needs of car enterprises in the Midwest, Dagang Company innovated to create a "railway trunk + road short fall" twin engine port model, the railway special line directly arrives at the port yard, and the road transport implements No. 1 and No. 7 dock double line port, and the goods are received 24 hours "not closing". The seamless multimodal transport system reduces logistics costs for customers by more than 10%, making Qingdao Port a core node of new energy vehicle exports through the Yellow River basin and linking Northeast Asia.

Zhou Lei, head of the operation department of Dagang Company, said: "The operation efficiency of the first voyage of ships reached 250 vehicles per hour, and the whole process achieved 'zero waiting time' connection. We also pre-position the 'no turn' position and pre-determine the ship's hatch to ensure that the vehicle can be positioned without a second turn once it comes in." At present, Dagang has formed four RO-RO routes covering emerging markets such as East Africa, North and Central America and Russia. Shandong port Qingdao Port said that the next step will be to deepen cooperation with shipowners and cargo owners, optimize digital port services, build a new energy vehicle export industry chain service platform, and help "Made in China" to the world.
