The Port of Eilat in Israel will be permanently closed
According to Israeli media reports, due to the tense situation in the Red Sea, the country's important port of Eilat has fallen into a debt crisis and will be permanently closed on July 20.
The Israeli government said recently that due to the arrears of municipal taxes, the Eilat municipal government has lawfully frozen the accounts of the Eilat Port, forcing the port to cease operations.
The Israeli Emergency Management Agency has warned that the closure of the Port of Eilat could disrupt logistical support for the Israeli Navy in the region, raising potential security concerns amid escalating tensions in the area.
It is understood that the Port of Eilat is the only outlet for southern Israel to the Red Sea and one of the key trade ports for the country to access the Asia-Pacific region. The main business of this port is to import automobiles and export potash fertilizer for the Asia-Pacific region. According to statistics from the Port of Eilat, nearly half of Israel's annual car imports are completed through this port.
It is worth noting that the Port of Eilat has been under attack by the Houthi forces for a long time, and its port operations have been severely affected. After the Houthi forces claimed to have launched attacks on Israeli ships, the operation of the Port of Eilat came to a standstill, causing the port to suffer huge economic losses.
