Tonnage decreased by 0.3%. In the first half of 2024, the new capacity of 77 ships, 2.462 million deadweight tons; No compulsory scrapping of ships; Enterprises carried out capacity adjustments, and a total of 102 ships with 2.771 million deadweight tons of capacity were withdrawn from the market.
The average age of dry bulk carriers in coastal interprovincial transport is 10.8 years, an increase of 0.2 years from the end of 2023. Among them, there are 283 old ships (more than 18 years old) and 35 special inspection ships (more than 28 years old), accounting for 11.3% and 1.4% of the total number of ships. Compared with the end of 2023, the proportion of old ships and special inspection ships increased by 0.3 and 0.1 percentage points respectively.
2. Container ship capacity
As of June 30, 2024, there were 435 coastal inter-provincial container ships (more than 700TEU, excluding multi-purpose ships, the same below) with a capacity of 1.017 million TEU, an increase of 25 over the end of 2023, and an increase of 44,000 TEU, or a 4.5% increase in container capacity. 40 new capacity of 77,000 TEU in the first half of 2024; No compulsory scrapping of ships; A total of 15 container ships (33,000 TEU) were withdrawn from the market early.
The average age of container ships for coastal interprovincial transport is 7.9 years, a decrease of 0.4 years from the end of 2023. Among them, there are 37 old ships (more than 20 years old) and 1 special inspection ship (more than 29 years old), accounting for 8.5% and 0.2% of the total number of ships. Compared with the end of 2023, the proportion of old ships did not change, and the proportion of special inspection ships decreased by 0.3 percentage points.
Iii. Transport capacity of liquid cargo dangerous goods vessels
(1) Oil tanker.
As of June 30, 2024, there were 1,114 inter-provincial oil tankers (including crude oil tankers and refined oil tankers, but not dual-purpose vessels containing oil products and chemicals) with 11.613 million deadweight tons (some ships have changed their deadweight tons after inspection, and a total reduction of 0.3 million deadweight tons), which was 38 fewer than the end of 2023, 75,000 deadweight tons, and the tonnage decreased by 0.6%. In the first half of 2024, the new capacity of 22 ships and 200000 deadweight tons; A total of 60 ships with 272,000 deadweight tons were withdrawn from the market ahead of schedule.
The average age of oil tankers in coastal provinces is 11.2 years, an increase of 0.1 years from the end of 2023. Among them, there are 573 old ships (over 12 years old) and 3 ships with special inspection age (over 26 years old), accounting for 51.4 percent and 0.3 percent of the total number of ships. The number of old ships increased by 27 from the end of 2023, an increase of 4.9%, and the number of special inspection ships was the same as that at the end of 2023.
(2) Chemical tanker.
As of June 30, 2024, there were 289 inter-provincial chemical vessels (dual-purpose vessels containing oil products and chemicals, the same below) with 1.546 million deadweight tons, which was 3 fewer than that at the end of 2023, but the tonnage increased by 54,000 deadweight tons, or 3.6%. In the first half of 2024, 16 new shipping capacity and 96,000 deadweight tons were added, and a total of 19 ships and 42,000 deadweight tons were withdrawn from the market in advance.
The average age of coastal inter-provincial chemical transport vessels is 10.0 years, a decrease of 0.4 years from the end of 2023. Among them, there are 158 old ships (more than 12 years old), accounting for 54.7% of the total number of ships. Ships that have not reached the age of special inspection (more than 26 years old). The number of old ships increased by 10 from the end of 2023, an increase of 6.8%, and the number of special inspection ships decreased by 1 from the end of 2023.
(3) Liquefied gas carrier.
As of June 30, 2024, there were 87 inter-provincial liquefied gas vessels with 322,000 deadweight tons (some vessels changed their deadweight tons after inspection, and the total was reduced by 0.1 million deadweight tons), an increase of 2 vessels with 0.6 million deadweight tons and a tonnage increase of 1.8% compared with the end of 2023. In the first half of 2024, two new shipping capacity and 7,000 deadweight tons were added, and no ships were forced to be scrapped and ships were withdrawn from the market early.
The average age of liquefied gas vessels in coastal provinces is 13.2 years, an increase of 0.2 years from the end of 2023. Among them, there are 57 old ships (more than 12 years old) and 6 ships with special inspection age (more than 26 years old), accounting for 65.5% and 6.9% of the total number of ships. The number of old ships increased by 8 from the end of 2023, an increase of 16.3%, and the number of special inspection ships was the same as that at the end of 2023.
