Cranes collapsed and containers were blown away by Typhoon Capricorn
Since September 2, Typhoon "Capricorn" has landed in Luzon Island of the Philippines, Wenchang city of Hainan province, Xuwen county of Guangdong province and Quang Ninh province of Vietnam, causing many casualties and heavy economic losses, China's ports have resumed normal operations.
According to the National Meteorological Center, the center of this year's 11th typhoon "Capricorn" (super typhoon category) made landfall in the southern coast of Quang Ninh province, Vietnam at around 3:30 PM on the 7th, the maximum wind near the center of the 17 (58 meters per second), the lowest pressure of 925 hpa.
On the afternoon of September 7, "Capricorn" landed in the northern coastal provinces of Quang Ninh and Haiphong with winds of 149 km/h, and had a great impact on the ports of northern Vietnam.
Before the typhoon landed, many docks in Haiphong Port have stopped operations, and Haiphong Port has suspended cargo handling operations since 3 PM on September 6, and reinforced equipment, but the typhoon is still huge damage. Two cranes collapsed at MPC Port in Haiphong City, including a gate crane and a shore bridge. Two gantry cranes collapsed, another two cranes derailed, and many containers were blown away.
Haiphong Port engineers said that the equipment was worth hundreds of billions of Vietnamese dong (about tens of millions of yuan, 100 billion Vietnamese Dong is about 29 million yuan), complex maintenance, and had a great impact on port operations
In addition, according to the "Vietnam Express website" reported that typhoon "Capricorn" caused landslides, flash floods and trees fell, has caused a total of 59 deaths in Vietnam. According to Vietnam's disaster emergency department, Typhoon "Capricorn" has killed at least 35 people and left 24 missing.
