ONE acquires NPCT1, a major terminal in Southeast Asia
On November 28, Ocean Network Shipping (ONE) announced the completion of the acquisition of a partial stake in New Priok Container Terminal One(NPCT1), located in New Priok Port District, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Sungreen Logistics learned that NPCT1 is an important terminal for the Southeast Asian market, which was completed in 2016 with an annual capacity of 1.5 million TEUs and can accommodate advanced large container ships with its deep water and modern equipment.
Jakarta is ONE's third largest port in Southeast Asia. ONE said the acquisition of NPCT1 strengthens the company's presence in the regional supply chain and secures terminal loading capacity in this critical region.
Hiroki Tsujii, CEO of ONE's Global Product and Route Network Division, said: "NPCT1 is an efficient, green terminal in a rapidly growing region, and its strategic location is important to us. Our shareholding in the terminal ensures our ability to operate in key ports is secured and helps us achieve our growth targets."
ONE also said that the deal also demonstrates its ongoing commitment to investing in the business. In November 2023, ONE completed the acquisition of certain terminal shares on the West Coast of the United States and in Europe. These assets will help the company improve service quality and provide customers with faster and more reliable service.
