The container ship operated by ONE caught fire while docking at Ningbo Port
On November 24, a container ship "GSL Chloe" operated by ONE broke out in a fire while preparing to dock at China's Ningbo Port.
It is reported that the fire broke out in the engine room of the ship, but fortunately, the crew acted quickly and successfully put out the fire. At the same time, five tugboats also assisted in moving the vessel to anchorage in the harbor for safety.
There were no casualties in the incident, but it caused a brief disruption to operations in the port area.
The ship "GSL Chloe" was built in 2012 with IMO number 9506382. The ship is flying the Liberian flag and has a capacity of 2546TEU, which is in the category of medium to large container ships. "GSL Chloe" was deployed on ONE's direct KCI route to Indonesia and was carrying out voyage 0123S at the time of the incident.
The ship involves a number of ship companies to share the cabin, including: ONE, TSL, SITC, RCL, Namsung, etc. The "GSL Chloe" ship is attached to Shekou, Xiamen, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo and other major domestic ports.
Despite the quick response of the crew and rescue workers, the incident led to the suspension of operations at the port of Ningbo for a period of time. Due to the presence of the ship "GSL Chloe" in a location that blocked the critical passage, some complications were created, and operations were only resumed after the fire was extinguished.
AIS showed that as of 17:41 on the 28th, the "GSL Chloe" ship was still anchored near Ningbo Port.
