Operations began to resume in Texas on Wednesday

Several ports in Texas began resuming operations on Wednesday after Winter Storm Enzo left the state, according to a Reuters port and shipping notice.

Freeport resumed ship operations on Wednesday morning, while the ports of Houston and Galveston were scheduled to reopen to ship traffic later in the day.

The storm dumped several inches of snow on Texas, Louisiana and Florida, places that rarely see extreme winter weather. It forced school districts, businesses and roads to close in major cities such as Houston and New Orleans, but so far has caused minor disruptions to energy operations.

Freeport, Galveston and Houston reduced boat traffic amid freezing temperatures and snow Tuesday.

Galveston Wharves chief executive roger Rees said Galveston pilots, who assisted in moving ships around the port, hoped to resume service on Wednesday afternoon after suspending ship activity late on Monday.

Inbound vessel traffic at the Port of Houston is expected to resume on Wednesday, according to a notice from shipping agents. The Port of Houston said all eight of its public facilities were closed Tuesday.

The Lake Charles Pilots in Louisiana said Wednesday that their service was still suspended.

The Port of Corpus Christi says the ship is moving.

Freeport, the Port of Houston and the Port of Lake Charles did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Ships at the Port of New Orleans are not expected to begin activity until Thursday, according to a shipping company's advisory, citing the New Orleans Board of Trade.

Also in Freeport, liquefaction operations at the Freeport LNG plant were halted on Tuesday due to intermittent power supply issues.

Electricity provider CenterPoint Energy CNP. The company reported on Wednesday that fewer than 40,000 customers were without power in Texas and Louisiana. The company didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Freeport LNG export plant in Texas will remain closed until the power supply is stable.
