The Brazilian Ministry of Ports and Airports and Agencia Nacional de Transportes Aquaviarios (Antaq) have resumed the concession project for the container terminal Tecon Santos 10.
The auction of Tecon Santos 10 is expected to be the largest in the history of Brazilian ports and aims to create the conditions for the Port of Santos to become a hub for the whole of Latin America,
In order to complete the tender process for the mega terminal, Antaq held a public hearing in February to improve the technical and legal documents related to the tender process for the lease of Tecon Santos 10 terminal.
The deadline for donations is March 24, 2025. The date of the public meeting will be determined in due course.
Recently restructured, the project aims to become the largest terminal in the Port of Santos, consolidating its position as an important project to meet the container and general cargo transportation and storage needs of the port complex.
The total terminal investment will amount to $988 million over 25 years, covering the port's leased areas and public areas, including the dredging of the new terminal's maneuvering areas and berths. The investment aims to increase the port's capacity by 50%.
Combined with other measures, such as the granting of access to the maritime zone and the construction of an undersea tunnel linking Santos and Guaruya, Tecon Santos 10 has created the conditions for the city of Sao Paulo to become a hub port in Latin America, with its large terminals capable of receiving large volumes of cargo and then sending it to smaller ports throughout the continent.
