Hapag-lloyd will close the JCS service at the end of February 2025 as it chooses to deploy its vessels on one of the Gemini services. THE route is operated as part of the Alliance with CMA CGM and COSCO Shipping Lines (known as PEX2 and CAX1, respectively).
Hapag-lloyd is expected to choose to deploy its 10,000 teu Seaspan Zambezi container ships on one of Gemini's Asia-Caribbean routes, which will be in partnership with Maersk in February as part of the Gemini partnership in February 2025.
The eastbound connection will be covered by the new US2 service (Maersk's TP12), which has two stops in Cartagena. The Colombian port will also be part of the new US3 route (Maersk's TP15) westbound route.
The Gemini Alliance is prioritizing trunk calls for hubs where one of the two partners has an operating stake in the terminal. APM Terminals, a unit of Maersk, holds a 51 percent stake in Cartagena container Terminal.
