ONE will add East Coast EC2 service to the Port of Jacksonville
Beginning in February 2025, Ocean Network Express (ONE) will integrate the Port of Jacksonville (JAXPORT) into its East Coast 2 (EC2) service, creating a direct connection between Jacksonville and five ports in Asia.
The weekly route will use a fleet of 13,500 TEU vessels, all operated by ONE.
The vessels will dock at Blount Island Marine Terminal's recently upgraded SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal, which has a 47-foot deep water channel. Handling services will be provided by SSA Atlantic.
"We are excited to add routes to Jacksonville, Florida, as an enhancement to our East Coast 2 (EC2) service. By adding JAXPORT to our rotation, we are strengthening the connection between East Asia and North America while enhancing choice for our customers, "said ONE North America.
The route will rotate China's Xiamen, Yantian, Ningbo and Shanghai; Busan, South Korea; Manzanillo, Panama; Savannah, Charleston and Jacksonville in the United States; Manzanillo; Busan; And return to Xiamen.
The route is expected to handle a variety of goods, including retail products, food and beverages, electronics and intermediate goods. EC2 will be ONE's third route at JAXPORT, complementing existing routes to THE Indian subcontinent via the West India North America (WIN) route and to Southeast Asia and Canada via THE Alliance's EC5 rotation route, which will be rebranded as EC3 in February 2025.
A $72 million project is currently underway to expand and modernize SSA's Jacksonville Container Terminal at JAXPORT Blount Island Terminal, which is expected to be completed in 2025.
The upgraded facility will feature more than 390,000 square meters of newly laid asphalt designed to support higher loading container piles and expand capacity to 485,000 square meters. Upon completion, the terminal is expected to accommodate more than 600,000 TEUs per year, an increase of 150% over current throughput.
