2024 Fortune Global 500, shipping companies COSCO Shipping and Maersk on the list
The 2024 Fortune Global 500 list has been released.
According to Fortune magazine, the combined revenue of the Fortune Global 500 companies this year is about 41 trillion US dollars, equivalent to one-third of global GDP, a slight increase of about 0.1 percent from last year. The entry threshold (minimum sales revenue) increased from $30.9 billion to $32.1 billion.
The combined net profit of the companies on this year's list rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to about $2.97 trillion. In addition to the total profit of the 500 companies slightly lower than that of the 2022 list, other indicators, including total assets, total net assets and total number of employees, reached the highest since the establishment of the Fortune Global 500 list.
As the "resident guest" of the world's top 500 in previous years, the State Grid, Sinopec, petrochina and other companies have once again appeared on the world's top 500 list this year. According to the data, the State Grid ranked third in the world with an operating income of 545.948 billion US dollars; Sinopec ranked fifth with $429.7 billion in revenue, while petrochina ranked sixth with $421,714 billion in revenue.
A total of 33 high-tech companies made the list, and Huawei remains the leading Chinese company in this field, ranking 103rd in the world.
It is worth noting that there are 10 shipping logistics companies on the list, which are:
China Post Group Limited (83), United Parcel Express Service (124), fedex Express (127), DHL Group (134), Japan Post Holding Company (146), United States Postal Service (156), China Cosco Shipping Group Limited (267), Maersk Group (289), France Post (409), SF Express Holding Co., LTD. (415).
By the double blow of 2023 market demand and low freight rates, the ranking of the world's large ship companies and freight forwarding logistics giants fell sharply on the list, and Germany's Hapag-Lloyd even fell directly out of the list!
China Cosco Shipping Group Co., Ltd. ranked 267th with total revenue of $53.929 billion, the highest ranking among all shipping companies.
Maersk ranked 289th with $51.065 billion in total revenue, down 138 places from 2023.
Hapag-lloyd, which ranked 416 last year, has dropped out of the Fortune 500 this year. In addition, the freight forwarding giants Kuehne & Nagel and DSV, which are listed in the 2023 Fortune 500 list, are not on the list this year!
