Mediterranean shipping MSC increased freight rates, effective from November 1

Mediterranean shipping MSC raises rates for November


Following the release of a new round of freight rates by Maersk, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd (freight rates rise! Hapal-roth, CMA CGM, Maersk announce November price increase plans), Mediterranean Shipping MSC announced on the 14th new Diamond Class (DT) rates from all Asian ports (including Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia) to Northern Europe from November 1, 2024 (and no later than November 14, 2024), unless otherwise stated, Suitable for the transportation of goods exported from Asia to Europe.

The new rates are in US dollars, $3,000 for 20-foot cabinets, $5,000 for 40-foot machines, basic port to basic port rates, departure subject to the usual TAO/TAD.

MSC increases DT rates from Far East to Europe

Includes the base rate (i.e. sea freight) and the following surcharges:
GFS (Global Fuel Surcharge) - VATOS $148/296/296 valid until November 2024
ECA (Emission Control Area) for Northern Europe only, rates subject to ECA are US $15 per TEU (Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, UK, Netherlands, France) and US $52 per TEU (remaining Nordic and Baltic States)

And from:
● CLS (Carbon Cap Surcharge) - VAT of $20 per TEU on Chinese exports
CRS (Carbon Review Surcharge) to NWC - EUR 23 per TEU for VATOS from non-Chinese Asian origin (Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea)

At the same time, MSC will implement new FAK rates for Asia to Mediterranean routes, effective from November 1, 2024, but not later than November 14, 2024, from all Asian ports (including Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia) to Europe, unless otherwise specified.

It is worth noting that the 20-foot cabinet to the Western Mediterranean, Adriatic Sea and Eastern Mediterranean is $3150, and the 40-foot cabinet is $4500. To the Black Sea 20 feet cabinet $3,200, 40 feet cabinet machine high cabinet $4,600.

All rates are calculated in US dollars based on basic port to basic port billing standards. The port of export will follow the regular TAO/TAD rules.

MSC increases FAK rates from Far East to Mediterranean

Includes the base rate (i.e. sea freight) and the following surcharges:
GFS (Global Fuel Surcharge) - VATOS $148/296/296 valid until November 2024

And from:
● CLS (Carbon Emission Limitation Surcharge) VATOS $20 /TEU
● CRS (Carbon Review Surcharge) VATOS $38 /TEU
