For $187 million, Evergreen Marine purchased more than 60,000 containers
A few days ago, Evergreen Shipping issued three announcements announcing that they placed orders to three container manufacturers to buy containers.
Among them, 23,000 Containers were purchased from CXIC Group Containers Company Limited for US $63.62 million; Purchased 21,000 containers from Guangdong Fuhua Machinery Group Co., LTD., with a transaction value of $66,225 million; Purchased 16,500 containers from Orient International Containers (Hong Kong) Limited for a transaction value of US $56.925 million. A total of 60,500 containers were purchased, with a total value of about 187 million US dollars.
Evergreen Marine explained that this is part of the company's box purchase plan announced in August. At that time, Evergreen Shipping said it would purchase no more than 100,000 containers due to operational needs.
In June this year, Evergreen Shipping purchased 50,000 containers for a total of $163 million.
Due to geopolitics, strikes and other factors, the industry is still concerned about the prospects of the global supply chain. In order to deal with the risk of container shortage caused by uncertain events, the shipping company has a strong willingness to prepare containers.
The world's largest container manufacturer CIMC recently said that the current container orders of CIMC Group are relatively saturated, and the orders in hand have been ranked to December, which is overall better than the same period last year.
For the medium and long term outlook of the container manufacturing business, CIMC believes that the global container volume is expected to continue to rise under the background of the continuous upward trend in the volume of international commodity trade. In the medium to long term, factors such as trade growth, supply chain diversification, and increased container mileage will work together to generate the necessary additional demand. At the same time, the imbalance of container trade flows, as well as the replacement of aging containers, will also support the growth of container demand.
